Nothing Gets Her Down on Her Knees

Paris Hilton could easily be named "the planet’s most persistent celebrity", which should please her, seeing how she loves superlatives attached to her name. The socialite’s latest endeavor – her relationship with her former best friend’s partner’s twin brother Benji Madden (I dare you to say that again three times fast) – seems to have captured her own attention and dedication to such an extent, that she’s pulling all the stops trying to actually make the relationship work. And while Nicole Richie is at home dutifully looking after baby Harlow, noting whatsoever stops Paris from accompanying her new beau and his band on tour and showing herself off with every chance she gets. However, if she by any chance forgot that being famous is a dangerous business, this past weekend reminded her that fame comes at a price.
Paris and Benji Madden spent the weekend in Prague – where they are said to have been mobbed by fans while leaving a restaurant. Paris reportedly fell over and hit her mouth, which would explain why she was later photographed trying to cover her face with her hands – which, as we all probably know by now, is a very uncharacteristic gesture for the woman who makes a fortune out of selling her own face and presence. Paris would only cover her face if suddenly discovered she had some terrible skin disease – or if she messed it up while falling over, and we all know she has a documented tendency to do both, as she has many times in the past. Note that even as she moves away from the camera, hand to her mouth and her face red under the hoodie and the oversize glasses – Paris is still sporting a (heavily branded) bag from her own collection.
In the end, this is probably what true perfectionism means. Through thick and thin, while being mobbed, chased around and trodden on, Paris will forever try to sell us something – whether her new looks, her branded line of clothes and jewelry, her seemingly perfect three-week-old relationship or her latest failure of a movie – while at the same time being convinced she’s a role model for young girls everywhere. Harsh as it may sound, before anyone starts talking about how Paris is an over-achiever, just ask yourselves one thing: on a scale from one to one hundred, how much would you like your daughter / sister / lover to be like her?
